Nevada’s Dark Side: Inside the Stories of Its Most Notorious Prisoners

The Carson City Historical Society is proud to present Glen Whorton for a fascinating journey into the darker side of Nevada history—a world of violent outlaws, cold-blooded killers, notorious criminals, and the men and women charged with keeping them behind bars.

Nevada’s prisons have held some remarkable—and dangerous—characters over the years. Glen will take us beyond the headlines and into the true stories behind some of the state’s most infamous prisoners, exploring the crimes that made them notorious, the investigations and captures that brought them to justice, their convictions, and what happened after the prison gates closed behind them. Along the way, he’ll share stories that reveal just how unpredictable and dangerous life inside Nevada’s prison system could be.

Few people are better suited to tell these stories. Glen spent 32 years with the Nevada Department of Prisons/Corrections, giving him a perspective that goes far beyond what can be found in newspaper accounts and history books. Drawing on decades of firsthand knowledge and experience, he brings Nevada’s prison history to life with the details, personalities, and behind-the-scenes stories that make these cases so compelling.

This promises to be an afternoon filled with true crime, Nevada history, notorious characters, and stories you probably won’t hear anywhere else.
