Carson City Historical Society’s Ice Cream Social – August 16, 2025

With a nod to tradition and a spirit of joy, the Carson City Historical Society welcomed the community to its beloved Ice Cream Social on Saturday, August 16th, at the Foreman-Roberts House Park. Families, friends, and neighbors gathered under late-summer skies to enjoy an afternoon filled with music, laughter, and history.

The highlight of the day was the lively performance by the Carson Street Ragtime Band, whose old-time melodies floated across the park, inviting guests to tap their toes, hum along, and even dance a little. The sweet notes of ragtime perfectly paired with the simple pleasure of heaping scoops of old-fashioned ice cream—just $3 a serving—that brought smiles to children and adults alike.

The Foreman-Roberts House Museum opened its doors for tours, giving visitors a chance to step back into Carson City’s past while supporting its preservation. Admission to the social was free, but the generosity of attendees made the event one of the Society’s most important fundraisers, ensuring that local history continues to be preserved and celebrated for generations to come.

It was a true celebration of community spirit, heritage, and summertime sweetness—a memory to be cherished until next year’s Ice Cream Social returns.
